How to film a thriller

When a thriller is made they have a variety of different conventions used to make a thriller look like a thriller. examples of this would be point of view shots, close ups, low and high angle, these techniques creates the feeling of what the actor is feeling within the thriller.

Thrillers use music as music is very effective at building up tension and making the audience feel what the actor within the thriller is feeling. this is mainly done using non digetic music, this is where the actor within the thriller cant hear the music but audience can. usually music is very sinister, scary and deep noted.
Speed of editing within thrillers are another important convention as this can determine how intense the thriller is, for example at the start of the thriller things could be at a normal slow pace like and it could gradually speed up throughout the seen. This could indicate panic within the thriller.

another way tension is made in thrillers is through hidden watchers. this is when the shot is filmed through a window or door way, this can suggest that there is someone watching the actor or there is something hiding. also close ups can be used to create tension, for example if there was a close up of someone face and the audience couldn't see what they are looking at, this would create tension as they wouldn't know what they actor is looking at.
